BELOW LEFT: First and second in class (prototype cars up to 850cc) were these BMW 700s’ tuned by Herr Martini No 78 is the class winning car of Hullbusch and Bialas and No 77 is that driven by Schreiber and Hahne. Two Castrol lubricated E Type Jaguars also took top places in their class…..

Targa Florio

BELOW LEFT: Two local drivers, Virgilio and Calascibetta driving their Alfa Romeo Giulietta Zagatos’ (below) were the main opposition to the fast Abarth Simcas in the opening laps of the Targa Florio. When the Abarth Simcas fell away, this team went on to win the small GT class

Le Mans

ABOVE RIGHT: The class winning MGB of Paddy Hopkirk which performed so impressively during the twenty four hour race at Le Mans, Here are the figures:-

Fastest Lap – 104 mph;
Speed on the Straight – 131 mph…..

Double World Champion – Jim Redman

For the second year running Jim Redman on on his Hondas has become the 250cc and 350cc World Champion for 1963. His 1963 Championship scoreboard can be seen below….

And Double World Champions – Honda

Honda won the 250cc and 350cc Manufacturers World Championship in 1963. This followed their triple victory in 1962 in the 125cc, 250cc and 350cc categories, and their victories in 1961….
