Brian Redman is to race a Surtees TS9B in Grand Prix Masters events at the Silverstone Classic meeting on July 28/30. The Lancastrian is also set to race at the Pau circuit in France in May. Brian will be 69 this year and started racing back in 1959 and contested 12 Grand Prix between 1968 and 1974, he made one appearance for Surtees in the 1971 South African GP. The Goodwood circuit has had a facelift since the 2005 revival meeting, with the whole circuit being completely resurfaced. Historic competitors expect there to be an improvement in lap times. HSCC Classic F3 racer Richard Trott's Ralt RT1 has been stolen from his home in Milton Keynes. The car along with Chevron nose cones, gear ratios and tools where all taken when his box trailer was stolen. Anyone with information should contact the HSCC office. |

The HSCC is searching to find drivers who took part in a motor race some four decades ago to join the clubs 40th Birthday celebrations at Silverstone on May 20/21. The clubs first ever race took place at Castle Combe on the 14th May 1966 and was the idea of motor racing photographer Guy Griffiths. The race called "The Griffiths Trophy" ultimately led to the formation of the HSCC. Penny Graham (nee Griffiths) the daughter of Guy dropped the flag on the inaugural race and has been invited to repeat the duty this year. The race will be called the Guy Griffiths Trophy. | ![]() |

Historic racing car fans met on Southport beach to celebrate the 80th birthday of Sir Henry Seagrave breaking the land speed record. The car on show was Sir Malcolm Campbell's 1919 Sunbeam which was the sister car to the one Sir Henry Seagrave took to the record, which he broke achieving 150.33 mph. Also present on the day was 91 year old Gordon Ingham who watched Seagrave break the record on Southport beach in 1926. | ![]() |

The unique Grand Prix Amon F101 which was unveiled at the Historic Motorsport Show at Stoneleigh, will race for only the second time ever this spring when Ron Maydon has it out in the Grand Prix Masters races. Chris Amon built the car for Formula 1 but it retired in the 1974 Spanish GP and failed to start in Monaco, Germany and Italy and the project was abandoned when finances ran dry. Ron is hoping to get Chris Amon over from his home in New Zealand to demonstrate the car. Titan racing car fanatic Greg Thornton has just finished restoring his rare Titan Mk10 which was unveiled at the Historic Motorsport Show at Stoneleigh. He is hoping to race the car in this years HSCC Derek Bell Trophy. The car is soon to be fitted with a rare 1500cc BDA engine, and will be run in Formula Atlantic trim. The car spent most of its competitive live in France running in Formula Renault. The car is one of only three Mk10s ever built and Greg hopes to have it ready in time for the first roud at Donington Park on April 2nd. The new Pre-93 Touring Car Championship is drawing widespread interest according to the Classic Touring Car Racing Club. The club reports more than 70 registrations already. With one make series like VW Ventos and Rover 220 Turbos included, while interested has been shown by Classic Group 1 and Production BMW pilots. A superbly restored Mallock Mk6 owned by Ray Mallock will take pride of place on the Mallock Club stand at the Historic Motorsport Show at Stoneleigh this weekend. The machine was last seen at the Clubmans 40th birthday celebrations at Silverstone, driven by Max Mosley. Gillian Carr the VSCC press secretary is entered in the clubs Pomeroy Trophy in a 1951 Alvis Saloon. Gillian is one of 90 entrants in the event to find the best grand-touring car. The Ex Gerry Marshall/Peter Brock 1977 Spa 24 Hours entered Vauxhall Firenza will be driven this weekend by VSCC member Adrian Goding in the VSCC's Pomeroy Trophy. Adrian bought the car at an auction at the Autosport International in January 2005. Since then the car has had a complete rebuild by former saloon racer Martin Thomas of SRG Motorsport. The ex-Tony Trimmer Brabham BT21 Formula Ford car has nearly been rebuilt after a major testing shunt at Oulton Park last August. The car owned by Chris & Mike Grant-Peterkinis which is being finished at Retro Track & Air, should be ready for the HGPCA test day at Silverstone in late April. The date for the VSCC Loton Park Hillclimb has fially been settled on June 24/25. The event had been planed for July but had to be changed. Practice runs will be on Saturday, with timed runs on the Sunday. A busy schedule of historic events this season is lined up for Joe Twyman, making his competitive come back after successfully getting over leukaemia. Nineteen year old Joe will race his Lotus 7, and his fathers Lotus 11 in the Top Hat events. When time permits he also hopes to share the MGB of his friend Oliver Bryant in some long distance races. The F5000 McLaren M10A/B that Sir Nick Williamson won the 1970 British Hillclimb Championship is back in the UK after many years in the United States. The car which is up for sale, has been completely rebuilt in its original livery and is ready to race in the HSCC Derek Bell Trophy or any of the F5000 revival races. Taking pride of place on the HRCR stand at the Historic Motorsprt Show Stoneleigh will be the Ex Pat Moss Austin Healey 3000. The former works car took a historic win at the 1960 Liege-Rome-Leige rally, driven by Pat Moss and Anne Wisdom. The car has been recently restored by Jonathan Everard. The HSCC's Classic Sport Car Championship will this year include a class for sports racing cars. Theses cars have been racing in this series, but as an invitation class. The HSCC is planning several longer races for 2006, at Silverstone, Snetterton and Croft. One hour endurance races have also been up for discussion. Amanda Whitaker will contest the Formula Atlantic class of the European Formula 2 2006 series with a fresh Swindon tuned engine in her Chevron B34. |
