A Formula Junior Elva only race takes place at Mallory Park (BARC) on Sunday 22nd May to celebrate 50 years of the Elva marque !!. After morning practice the race will be over 14 laps of the Leicestershire track. An amazing entry of 17 Formula Junior cars has been gathered for the 50th anniversary celebrations at Mallory Park. Yes seventeen Elvas will do battle with one Scorpion, the latter all the way from South Africa, but a most fascinating feature of the race is the recreation of the very FIRST Formula junior race ever held in England - at Brands Hatch in August 1959 - in which Ian Rabys Moorland took on the two Elva 100s of Peter Pilsworth and Scott Bloor - and won !! On Sunday that same Moorland will be a guest entry in the hands of Bill Grimshaw - and all the Elvas will be out there seeking revenge !! Watch out for 2004 Historic Race Driver of the Year, Martin Walford making a guest appearance in Stuart Rolts Elva 200, and give a great welcome to Alan Patterson, all the way from USA, with the Elva 100 that he has owned SINCE NEW !! An Elva only Sports Car race takes place at Mallory Park (BARC) on Sunday 22nd May to celebrate 50 years of the Elva marque !!. Special guests including Mallory Park circuit owner and long time sports and FJ Elva racer Chris Meek, and Roger Dunbar, who has kept the Elva name flying over the last three decades, will be presenting the prizes to the two winners, and to all participants. Nick Marsh who's TR2 took part in only its second ever race when it took part in Saturdays Le Mans Legend event, hopes to enter the rare TR2 at Goodwood Festival of Speed ! Nick doesn't want another 50 years to lapse until the TR has its next race. The event usually takes place at Silverstone, but with no AMOC meeting at Silverstone this year the drivers have a different venue for the event !! The Classic Sports Car Club will be running a seven race programme at its first meeting at Cadwell Park on Sunday 10 July. Main event is a 40 minute Swinging Sixes race for classic sports cars !! A recreation of the 1958 Formula One Grand Prix and the very first Formula Junior event to be run outside Italy, takes place this weekend 8/9/10 July at the Oporto track Portugal !! The winner of the VSCC See Red Maserati race will be presented with a 1/16th - scale model of a Maserati 250F. The model has been commissioned by race sponsor Hall & Hall racing. The Aintree Circuit Club want to get the former British Grand Prix track listed by English Heritage to save the track from developers building a grandstand for the horse racing course being built across part of the circuit. The building of this grandstand would wreck any chances of any motor racing ever taking place at the north west venue ever again. The Aintree Circuit Club arranged for a team of English Heritage inspectors to undertake an inspection last week and will get the results of the inspection early next month. This followed up Nelson's win over Neil in the non-championship race at the Silverstone Classic weekend meeting a week earlier !!
