  • Clubmans Register 40th Birthday

  • The Clubmans Register is working flat out to find as many former Clubmans racers to compete in the 40th anniversary celebrations at the Silverstone BRDC 500 on July 30th.
    Anyone interested in taking part should contact Chris Hart Email. Other events are planned including a track day at Mallory Park on March 24th and an end of year dinner.


  • The Classic Sports Car Club

  • has a new series for 2005 called the Swinging Sixties Race Series, which caters for classic sports and saloons. The series is over 8 rounds starting at Snetterton on April 23/24.

  • International date at Oulton Park secured by VSCC

  • The VSCC returns to Oulton Park on May 28th for the first time in 5 years. Running on the International circuit the programme includes the Hawthorn Memorial and Spanish Trophies for Post-War Grand Prix Cars.
    Also on the programme the HGPCA will be running an event for Pre 1966 Grand Prix Cars.


  • National Formula Ford 1600 Series backed by MSV

  • Motosport Vision (Jonathan Palmers company) is backing a nationwide FF1600 Championship in 2005. Working with the BRSCC a 12 round championship is planned racing at the MSV circuits of Brands Hatch, Cadwell Park, Oulton Park and Snetterton. There will be a £10,000 prize fund and a promotional package is being put together.

  • Maserati to feature strongly at VSCC SEE RED Meeting

  • Maserati will be taking center stage at the VSCC Donington Meeting on September 3/4 The focal point being a collection of 250F's along with a race for all types of Maserati's.

  • 40th Anniversary of Chevron

  • The Oulton Park Gold Cup meeting on August 28/29 marks the 40th birthday of Chevron. The meeting will have a race dedicated to Chevron with many famous drivers taking part, such as Brian Redman.

  • 'Groovy Baby' 1970's Saloons to be run by Top Hat.

  • Julius Thurgood's Top Hat organisation will be running a new series for 1970's saloons under the title of 'Groovy Baby Saloons'. The series hopes to run rounds at Castle Combe, Donington Park, Mallory Park as well as Chimay and Spa Francorchamps. One of Gerry Marshall's Triumph Dolomites is already confirmed.

  • HSCC to run meetings at Thruxton and Croft

  • The Historic Sports Car Club is running a meeting at both Thruxton and Croft this year. This does mean however there will be no meetings at Mondello Park or Mallory Park

  • NO St John Horsfall Meeting for 2005 !!

  • The Aston Martin Owners Club will not be running its annual St John Horsfall Trophy at Silverstone this year. This is due to no available dates. The club says it hopes to run it in 2006.

  • 19th Annual Lotus Show.

  • The 19th annual Lotus show and festival will be taking place at Donington Park on the weekend of 19th/20th March. The show will have cars for sale, archive films and live technical sessions and seminars.

  • Dodd to race Historic Cooper !!

  • Classic saloon Jaguar driver Graeme Dodd is to drive the ex Ted Williams Cooper Monaco, in the BRDC Historic Sportscar Championship in 2005.
    Graeme who has been the Historic Racing Saloon Champion in his Jaguar Mk2 and Jaguar XK champion in recent years, had a few outings in the Historic Sportscar Series last season in his Jaguar XK120.
    Graeme's first event will be the opening round of the championship at Silverstone on March 19th.


  • New Historic Festival to be Moved !!

  • The Historic Festival meeting is being moved from mid-June to July 30/31, taking the place of the BRDC 500.
    There have been no details as to the fate of the BRDC 500 meeting.


  • Formula Junior debut for Manger !!

  • Former FF2000 racer Rob Manger will be making his debut in the Formula Junior Championship in the ex John Quenby Elva 100. The car now owned by Mike Ketcher is being entrusted to Manger for the coming season.

  • Top Hat to stage Historic Saloon Gala !!

  • Top Hat is to stage the first major historic race meeting of 2005. The meeting will be taking place at Donington Park on the bank holiday weekend of 1st/2nd May. As well as featuring their usual Top Hat races there will be races for Le Mans Legends, Pre-War Sports Series, Lurani Formula Junior Championship Race and HGPCA Drum-braked Sportscar Race.

  • BRDCMC Meeting to stage 30min Sports & GT Race !!

  • The BRDC Marshals Club meeting at Silverstone on Saturday 19th March, will include a 30 minute scratch race for sports cars and GT's. The entry which will be co-ordinated by Barry Sidery-Smith, will give drivers of MGBs, Austin Healeys, Triumph TRs, Lotus Elans a chance for a pre-season warm up.

  • TGP to return to Brands Hatch !!

  • The Thoroughbred Grand Prix Cars will be racing again at Brands Hatch this season on the full circuit. This is following comfirmation that they will be supporting the A1 GP meeting on September 24/25 at the Kent track.

  • Dundrod Historic Festival June 18 !!

  • The 50th anniversary of the Dundrod Tourist Trophy takes place this June in the Tourist Trophy Sprint Meeting. Taking place on Saturday 18th June, the event will be using a 7.5 mile track laid out on closed public roads. Already confirmed is a Ferrari 750 Monza that was driven to 9th place at Dundrod in 1954 by Mastern Gregory.

  • The Second International Historic Motorsport Show !!
    Stoneleigh was again the venue for the Second International Historic Motorsport Show which again was a great success and was opened on Friday by John Surtees. The new classic motorbike hall was another success.

  • Anglesey to host Archie Frazer Nash Memorial !!

  • The North Wales Anglesey cicuit is to host a classic race meeting over the weekend of September 24/25. This will be the first running of the Archie Frazer Nash Memorial Trophy. The meeting will be organised jointly by the Frazer Nash section of the VSCC and the Chester MC. The meeting will cater for classic cars, bikes and sidecars. Other races on the programme will be Austin Sevens, 500cc F3 and Morgan three-wheelers.

  • New Historic Single Seaters for Knockhill !!

  • A new Scottish single seater race series is to take part exculsively at Knockhill. The series will cater for single seaters that run without wings and classes will include Formula Junior, Classic F3, Classic Racing Cars and Pre 83 FF1600.

  • A busy year for Adam Ruddle !!

  • Adam Ruddle is planning to race his 1960 Chevrolet Corvette and his ARP F3 Reynard. The Corvette which made its debut at Le Mans last year will be contesting Cloth Cap events which includes Spa Franorchamps in Belguim.

  • Ex David Purley car out at Donington !!

  • The ex David Purley March 742 was raced by Ian Jacobs to fifth place at the Easter HSCC Donington meeting.

  • Jochen Rindt Historic F2 !!

  • Already there are 40 drivers registered for the JR Historic F2 Trophy which includes a round at the Silverstone Historic Festival.

  • Haggis Memorial Trophy !!

  • The Haggis Memorial Trophy race for Clubmans will feature at their Silverstone 40th anniversary event on 12 June.

  • TR2 for Le Mans !!

  • Rare car will return to Le Mans, 50 years on !! Club racer Nick Marsh will partner Tony Dron in a ex-works Triumph TR2 in the Le Mans Legends race on Saturday morning (18 June) before the main 24 Hr event.

  • Fernando Alsonso to make debut at Goodwood Festival of Speed !!

  • Fernando Alonso will make his Goodwood debut in June in the Renault R24. He will be one of seven Grand Prix teams taking part in the action on 25/26 June.

  • Jeremy Bouckley drives FJ Cooper for first time since 1964 !!

  • Jeremy Bouckley drove a Formula Junior Cooper for the first time since 1964 during the HGPCA test day at Silverstone. The Peter Denty owned car will be raced by Bouckley later this year.

  • Riley Blue Streak Wins ninth Fox and Nicholl Trophy in eleven years !!

  • Julian Bronson won both the 1950's Sports Racing Car and Fox and Nicholl Trophy races at last Saturdays VSCC Spring Start race meeting at Silverstone. Driving a Lister Corvette and Riley Blue Streak respectively. This was the Riley's ninth win in eleven years !!

  • Formula Junior Elva 50th Anniversary race at Mallory Park !!

  • A Formula Junior Elva only race at Mallory Park (BARC) on 22nd May is to celebrate 50 years of the Elva marque !!

  • Martin Grant-Peterkin acquires Formula Ford Brabham BT21 !!

  • Martin Grant-Peterkin has acuired the Formula Ford Brabham BT21 he raced 35 years ago. He plans to let his sons Chris and Mike use it on their racing debuts !!

  • Larry Kinch to debut ex-Arundell Lotus 20/22 !!

  • Larry Kinch, father of Nathan, GT Championship runner, plans to race his ex-Peter Arundel Formula Junior Lotus 20/22 at Knockhill during the British GT meeting on May 21/22 !!

  • Amanda Whitaker leads F Atlantic class of European F2 Club series !!

  • Following the first event of the EF2 Club series Amanda Whitaker leads the Formula Altlantic class with a second and first in the two races staged at the Hockenheim Jim Clark Revival meeting !!

  • Biggest F5000 line-up since 1970's hayday !!

  • More F5000 cars will be gathered together for the summer double header at Brands Hatch and Silverstone in July than since the haydays of the formula in the late sixes and early 70's. Nine drivers from New Zealand have been confirmed will be making the trip over for the summers double header !!

  • New Historic Hall at Autosport International

  • Visiters have been inpressed with new Historic hall. Many displays featured such as Group C/GTP Display and Cars, Top Hat Saloons, Shelsley Walsh Hillclimb (Centenary), Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust (Jaguar Collection), Maverick Motorsport (Historic F1 and Sports) and Tour Britannia a new event for 2005.

    There are also many stands for Autojumble and Memorabillia plus LAT Photographic (celebrating 40 years).

  • EPM technology and Juno Racing have joined forces to create the new groundbraking new lightweight composite powerful V6 Britsport Racing Car the Juno SS3 V6. Email

  • Martin Brundle and Mark Blundell have set up a new company, 2MB Sports Management Ltd., to provide a mamagement service for racing drivers. 2MB will focus on young talent hoping to promote British drivers and also drivers from around the world. Email
